POST FALLS — The Sandpoint softball team dropped its third straight game Saturday at Post Falls.

The Trojans beat the Bulldogs 11-0 to complete the season sweep. The game was called in the fifth inning due to the 10-run rule.

But this meeting was a lot closer than the first matchup between these two teams on March 16 when SHS lost 22-0.

Head coach Elizabeth Hawkins-Williams said her team continued to show just how much they have improved since the start of the season.

"We crushed the ball today," she said. "You can’t tell by the stat line, but we did. Unfortunately, we were hitting right to the defense."

Cresanna Authier and Kinzie Ward recorded the only two hits for the Bulldogs.

Senior Madi Garman was dominant on the mound. She lasted all four innings and only allowed four hits to a 5A school.

"She was able to hit her spots and threw a great off-speed pitch today, which kept Post Falls from being able to make solid contact," Hawkins-Williams said about Garman. "Most of the balls put into play today were playable for us. She did everything she could to help put her team in a position for success."

Hawkins-Williams was also impressed with the play of Lily Gammon behind the plate.

The Bulldogs committed four errors on Saturday and Hawkins-Williams said her team needs to continue to improve defensively and work on their mental toughness if they want to reach their goals this spring.

The Bulldogs (6-6, 2-4 IEL) host a doubleheader with St. Maries at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
