Bulldogs, Wolfpack best of very fast Whitefish Tri

WHITEFISH — Brooke Zetooney won two sprints — running the fastest time in Class A in the 100 meters — and Whitefish won the girls’ team title at a triangular meet the Bulldogs hosted Tuesday.

Zetooney zipped through the 100 in 12.68 seconds, while teammate Mikenna Ells was second at 12.75. Those times sit 1-2 in Class A, and Zetooney, a freshman, also moved into the top four in the 200 while winning in 26.48.

Olivia Genovese swept the 800 and 1,600 and teammate Erin Wilde won the high jump and triple jump, while Whitefish rolled up 73 points to 63 for Glacier and 45 for Bigfork.

In the high jump Wilde won on criteria over Ells; both cleared 5-0, a season-best for Ells.

The Bulldogs’ relay teams swept, with the short relay running the best time (49.75) in Class A. The long relay’s time is second only to Laurel’s.

Bigfork’s short relay became the first to meet the B qualifying standard, clocking 51.09, and the Vals’ long relay (4:20.25) also sits first in B.

Sidney Gulick swept the hurdles races for Glacier, and her time in the 300s (47.44) usher personal best and is No. 5 in AA.

It was a fast track for the boys as well, where Glacier won the team team title and Whitefish edged Bigfork for third.

Glacier’s Jeff Lillard swept the 200 (23.22) and 400 (51.09), both personal bests. His 400 time sits best in AA.

Teammate Caleb Bernhardt ran the AA’s fastest time in the 300 hurdles: 41.29, and the Wolfpack’s short relay team (43.07) did the same.

A personal best 163-9 by the Pack’s Erik Junk moves him to third among AA javelin throwers; teammate Kale Mayhue moved up to fourth in the triple jump (40-9.5).

Whitefish’s Deneb Linton and Jacob Henson went 1-2 in the 3,200 and ran top-seven times for Class A: The freshman Linton finished in 10:36.19, which sits fourth..

Talon Holmquist marked 48-0, a personal-best and No. 3 in A, to win the shot put. Teammate Gabe Menicke set personal bests in the high jump (5-10) and triple jump (winning mark of 41-8). The latter meets the State A qualifying start and sits fourth.

The Bulldogs’ Bodie Smith ran a personal-best 43.11 while finishing second in the 300 hurdles. The Bulldogs clocked the second-fastest short relay time in A, 43.60.

Bigfork had some standout performances as well: Wyatt Herd cleared 12-3 in the pole vault, which ties him for second among B vaulters; Maddox Mater ran the 400 in 52.62, which sits sixth in B; Wyatt Duke, who won the high jump at 6-4, ran the 110 hurdles in 16.69 and joined Isak Epperly in the top four in B.

The Vikings’ short relay time of 43.60 is first in their class.
