Donna Joy Schafer, 92

Donna Schafer passed at her residence at Buffalo Hill Terrace away on April 17, 2021.

Donna was born in Alpena, Michigan, on July 18, 1928. Her family moved to California when she was a child and she spent the majority of her youth in San Diego area where she attended Grossmont High

School and San Diego State University. During World War II she worked in the wartime ship manufacturing industry there.

She met her future husband Hal in San Diego and, after residing there and raising their family, moved to where he was born and raised in the Flathead Valley after his retirement. They settled into Columbia Falls, and resided there for the balance of their lives.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2019.

Donna was a loving mother, avid golfer and bowler and learned to love the life style of Montana and the Flathead Valley.

She is survived by her son Gordon, stepdaughter Jackie, granddaughters Miranda and Rhiannon, six grandchildren and numerous cousins in Michigan, California and Montana.

A graveside service will be held in Columbia Falls at the Woodlawn Cemetery on Monday, April 26, at noon.

Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls is caring for the family.
