Supporters of a referendum to give Whitefish votes a chance to keep or reject a revised governance agreement for the two-mile planning and zoning “doughnut area” delivered 1,020 signatures to the Flathead County Election Department.

Skier visits at Big Mountain were off a bit for the season with a 10% decrease as a result of a lack of snow early in the season. The ski hill had two-thirds its normal snowfall for the season.

The Muldown School expansion project had cleared a major hurdle with the completion of drawings by Whitefish Architects Collaborative. The project was expected to cost $3.4 million and was necessary to handle overcrowding in the current building.

The high cost of land, added to the protests of nearby landowners, killed a proposal for a public park on the Whitefish lakeshore. The proposal submitted to the state Legislature was for about 600 feet of lake frontage on Gaines Point, on the west lakeshore, at a cost of $700,000 for nearly eight acres.
