Boys nearly break school record in 4x800 at Christina Finney Relays

POST FALLS — Three tenths of a second.
That's how close the boys 4x800 relay team of Jett Lucas, Keegan Nelson, Ben Ricks and Nikolai Braedt was to breaking the school record in the event at the Christina Finney Relays on Friday.
The team ran a 8:16.75 to place first at the meet. The current SHS record is 8:16.46.
As a whole, the Sandpoint boys track team took second at the meet while the girls finished seventh out of eight teams.
Taylor Petz captured first in the girls pole vault with a season best of 11 feet. The mark established a new school record, which she broke in the first meet of the season.
Braden Kappen captured first in the boys 100 and 200, while Peyton Ennis won the 400 with a PR. Rusty Lee earned first in the 110 hurdles and second in the 300 hurdles. It was Lee’s first time running the 300 hurdles and he was about five tenths off the school record.
Ben Ricks, Lee, Ennis and Kappen won the boys 4x400 relay.
Will Hurst claimed the boys discus with a PR of 144 feet, 5 inches. Stone Lee was third in the high jump and Nate Dotson tied for third in the pole vault. Braedt also brought home third in the 800.
The Bulldogs will compete in the Priest River Invitational at 10 a.m. today.
