Vote to keep Flint, Asche on library board
Having been a resident of Bonner County for nearly 80 years, my curiosity was aroused when I read that a petition opposing the mask requirement at the library was presented to the board. Everyone with whom I have spoken has expressed appreciation for the board’s efforts to protect patrons and staff.
This past weekend I obtained a copy of the anti-mask petition found at petition.org. I typed all of the names onto a spreadsheet. Then I cross checked every name and address with my Jan. 26, 2021 copy of Bonner County’s voter registration list.
Of the 351 names, only 178 are registered to vote in Bonner County, representing less than 1% of the voters in the District. Sixty-five are not registered. 108 live in other states from California to Rhode Island, from Florida to Washington.
I have been actively involved in many elements of community life, both elected and volunteer. I was surprised to discover that I know only one person who signed this petition.
I believe it is important to do our own research before making our voting decisions. As a regular user of our amazing library, I have observed first-hand that our library trustees deserve our thanks and our support.
Therefore, I’m casting my vote for Amy Flint and Jeanine Asche. I hope you will join me.
