Mineral County Sheriff Mike Toth recently announced the name of an inmate who died in custody in the county jail last month.

The man, identified as Sean Morgan Everly, a 31-year old Montana man, was found unresponsive in his jail cell and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

An investigation determined Everly took his own life.

Everly was being detained in the local jail regarding allegations of felony probation violations stemming from a May 2017 conviction in Mineral County.

Everly died Sunday evening, March 7, 2021, in the county facility.

Toth requested the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office conduct the investigation.

The investigation has been completed, and the investigating officers have met with and briefed Toth and Mineral County Attorney Ellen Donohue.

The investigation found no evidence indicating any other manner of death.

The investigative file was forwarded to the Mineral County Attorney’s Office for review and possible consideration to conduct a Coroner’s Inquest into the death of Averly.

The jail reopened about two months ago after having been closed for two years.

The Mineral County Sheriff’s Office said for those who may be struggling with depression, anxiety, or just needs someone to talk with and offer support, there is help available at 1-800-273-8255.
