The tradition of Vacation Bible School at the Plains Bible Chapel started around 1975, and it celebrated its 46th year this summer.

The program ran last week and wrapped up Friday.

The theme for this year was “Treasured by God” and the goal was teaching the kids about the different ways they are treasured by God, each day was dedicated to a new lesson about being “treasured.”

This year Vacation Bible School had 97 attendees from preschool through sixth grade, however six of the kids had to do it from home, so the church sent home kits for them to do so they could still have some of the experience.

Vacation Bible School is broken up into seven different activities, opening, art, Bible time, inflatables, games, snack time and closing,

now the order of that is different for each age group, so that each station only has one group at a time.

Kari Bauer, the director of the VBS program said that the goal of VBS was to “teach the kids they are treasured by God, and that their lives are valuable.”

There will be a follow up event, a carnival, on Sept. 9 from 6-8 p.m.
