Have no fear, you haven’t missed Shakespeare in the Park! It’s just not quite so Midsummer this year.

Typically, these family friendly dramatic plays take place at the Superior Fairgrounds in July each summer. So, when was the curtain call?

Jim Goss, treasurer for the Mineral County Performing Arts Council reassured, “Montana Shakespeare in the Park reconfigured their schedule, that's all.”

This summer’s highly anticipated return performance is slated for 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, in its customary venue at the Mineral County Fairgrounds in Superior. “Cymbeline” was the play they were going to do last year, just delayed due to COVID,” explained Goss.

"Cymbeline" in the Anthropocene is an intercontinental network of 10 site-specific productions of Shakespeare’s tragi-comic romance.

Each production will seek to uncover past and present ecological values in the play’s vibrant range of stories, emotions, and terrains, and to relate them creatively to local environmental conditions in the hope of opening audiences’ imaginations to new biocentric and biospheric horizons.

Their "Cymbeline" production is directed by Artistic Director Kevin Asselin and dramaturged by Gretchen Minton.

With such a long hiatus due to the pandemic, Shakespearean fans are excited to be back in the audience for some thrilling and preposterous lore.

Mark your calendars and bring your lawn chairs and refreshments for the last week of August. Goss added, “I don't think there will be any COVID related guidelines, being an outdoor event.”

The MCPAC is also looking forward to resuming many of their other community events and concerts in the coming year. Their entire schedule can be accessed at http://www.mineralcountyperformingartscouncil.org/
