KELLOGG — Although rainfall decreased wildfire spread over the weekend, firefighters remain on alert ahead of dry conditions expected this week.

The Deceitful fire, which has burned about 6,700 acres north of the Silver Valley so far, is 7% contained as of Monday afternoon.

Crews reportedly took advantage of cooler weather to resume burning operations in the Cinnabar Creek drainage, bringing fire down to Coeur d’Alene River Road.

A burn operation removes the unburned fuel between a containment line and the fire edge. This allows better control over the intensity of a fire.

Meanwhile, the neighboring Prichard fire remains 75% contained. Containment is expected to be completed this week.

Farther north, crews suppressed two spot fires over the weekend.

Though fire activity is diminished in the Stateline Complex, officials said fire continues to smolder and creep across the ground.

The complex is burning on the St. Joe Ranger District of the Idaho Panhandle National Forests, to the south and west of the Idaho-Montana state line.

The Tumbledown fire, the largest in the complex, has burned about 9,100 acres so far. It remains 0% contained as additional fire crews arrive to help suppression efforts.

A fire line has been completed around the Dolly Creek fire, which has burned about 830 acres. It also remains 0% contained.
