Troy officials are hosting a community meeting this week to discuss the future of recreational opportunities in and around the municipality.

During the meeting, officials hope to receive public comment on the city’s “Mountain to Town Troy Outdoor Recreation Plan,” which inventories outdoor opportunities from the Yaak Valley to Ross Creek Cedars. Officials are hoping to find ways to bolster connectivity between trails and manage existing assets.

The city’s plan is designed to strike a balance between “livability and economic vitality,” according to a Dec. 2 news release.

“Community input is vital to develop a plan that reflects the community vision and to provide guidance for decision makers in planning for outdoor recreation,” said City Councilor Shawna Kelsey in the statement.

City officials will intermix brief presentations with discussions at the meetings.

To assemble the plan, a city-appointed task force is partnering with a consulting team led by the Whitefish-based Montana Access Project. The plan is funded through the state Department of Commerce and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
