Richard Green, 44
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 3 years, 4 months AGO
J. Richard Green, II, 44 years old, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 5, 2021, due to a medical emergency.
Richard was born in Bluefield, W.V., on March 20, 1977, to John and Wanda Green and grew up in Roderfield, W.V. He graduated valedictorian from Iaeger High School in 1995. Following high school, he pursued a B.S. in computer science/mathematics and a minor in music from Concord College, graduating in 1999. He married the love of his life, Lori Cox, on Oct. 19, 2002. To this happy union was born Micah John in December of 2004, and in February of 2020, God answered prayer with the birth of Oliver Ronald. Richard held a successful banking career until his death, but he fulfilled a much higher calling as a pastor of the Church of God congregation in Hayden, Idaho, from July of 2009 to present.
During his academic journey, Richard had several unique experiences that developed into lifelong memories. As a junior in high school, Richard had the opportunity to be an exchange student in Russia for four weeks. His work career began in college at the campus computer center. He later worked for a short stint at the USDA Forest Service in Princeton, W.V., as a programmer. Richard began his banking career with the infamous Keystone National Bank in southern West Virginia, where he fulfilled various information technology tasks and projects through September of 1999. Upon its failure and subsequent FDIC takeover, his honesty and work ethic set him apart, and he was chosen by the FDIC to work with them as this historical event unfolded. At the end of September, he was hired by another southern West Virginia bank to direct their newly formed IT Department. He continued this career for MCNB Banks as an operations and strategic planning consultant until his death.
His faith in God and desire to work for Him guided every part of his life: his work ethic, his relationships with others, and his daily conduct. In July of 2009, God called Richard and Lori to move to the beautiful Northwest to pastor a small congregation in Hayden, Idaho. The congregation has grown strong in God's grace under his leadership. His generosity and patience formed a humble connection to everyone he met, giving him a lasting and living legacy on earth.
Left to treasure his memory is his wife of 19 years, Lori Green, of Coeur d'Alene; his two sons Micah John and Oliver Ronald of the home; his parents John and Wanda Green of Roderfield, W.V.; his brother Robert, wife Amy, children James, Laura and Lewis Green of Roderfield, W.V.; his sister Janna, husband John, children Allison, Wyatt and Melanie Shick of Butler, Pa.; his youngest sibling Julie Green of Roderfield, W.V.; a host of friends coworkers, extended family and the family of his heart, those in his congregation from northern Idaho.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., on Sunday, Dec. 12, at the Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel, 373 E. Hayden Ave., Hayden, Idaho.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Dec. 13, 2021, at the Hagadone Event Center, 900 S. Floating Green Drive, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Pastors Nathan Price and Dwayne Platt will officiate. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
