CLARK FORK — Clark Fork girls basketball was back at full strength Thursday night and it showed.
The Lady Cats gave Genesis Prep, a team they lost to 36-23 two weeks ago, everything they could handle. However, the Jaguars used a second-half surge to down Clark Fork 49-43.
The Lady Cats led 27-20 at the half, but were outscored 29-16 in the final two quarters.
"The girls did good considering they've all been sick," head coach Jordan Adams said, "but we just can't seem to push through that third and fourth quarter. For some reason we kind of let down on our scoring."
Katelyn Matteson scored a team-high 11 points, Lilly Reuter had nine and Hannah Thompson and Eloise Shelton each tallied 6. Paige Valliere and Grace Yancey both had 5.
"Grace came out strong," Adams said. "She had a couple good looks and made some really big free throws for us tonight."
Despite the loss, Adams was proud of the effort.
"Tonight, everybody that was on the floor contributed to the game offensively and defensively," she said.
The Lady Cats (0-5) battle Priest River at 3 p.m. today in their opening game of the Spartan Christmas Tournament at PRLHS.
