The Coeur d’Alene Symphony will bring “Star Wars” melodies and more to Coeur d’Alene in their family concert, Swords and Sabers: Melodic Heroism, at the Schuler Performing Arts Center at the North Idaho College campus on Jan. 29 at 7:30 p.m.

Children and adults are invited to dress up as their favorite character and join the symphony as they perform selections from “Star Wars,” Elizabeth Raum's ”Sir Gaiwain and the Green Knight” and Morton Gould's ”The Jogger and the Dinosaur.”

Verne Windham, acclaimed musician and well known voice as KPBX, Spokane Public Radio's Music Director, will be the guest conductor.

As a conductor he has conducted the Spokane Symphony on tour, served as the longest-tenured conductor of the Spokane Youth Orchestra, and been a frequent guest conductor for the Coeur d'Alene Symphony over the past 20 years.

Tickets are available now and going fast. Adult tickets are $20, seniors are $15 and students with ID are $10.

The concert is free for military/veterans with ID, youth ages 2-12 with an adult or senior ticket purchase, and NIC students with ID.
