The Kalispell City Council on Monday will consider joining a series of settlement agreements against major opioid distributors.

The state of Montana has been investigating and litigating opioid claims in state court for several years. Seven Montana local governments also have filed claims at the federal level.

Montana and its local governments are eligible to receive payments totaling $80 million over a period of years from four major opioid distributors — McKesson Corporation, Cardinal Health Inc., Amerisource Bergen and Janssen — if all 56 counties and Montana’s six largest cities by population join the settlement. The agreement won’t be applicable if Kalispell or any of the other governments involved do not join the agreement.

In Kalispell’s case, the settlement payment would not go to the Kalispell government, but instead to the Flathead City-County Health Department.

The deadline for all of the governments to sign on is Jan. 2, 2022.

TWO DEVELOPMENT proposals from WGM Group are also up for council deliberation.

One development is a request for final plat approval and a subdivision improvement agreement for Stillwater Crossing. The subject property is a two-lot subdivision at 430 Stillwater Road.

The two-lot property takes up 13.55 acres of the overall subdivision. The two lots would be divided into a multi-family lot and a commercial lot.

The council approved the preliminary plat with 49 conditions on Aug. 4, 2020.

The developer also is requesting a subdivision improvement agreement for just over $1.2 million.

Another final plat request and subdivision improvement agreement regards Northland Phase 5D.

The subject property is a 40-lot residential subdivision on 7.71 acres at the western end of Northridge Drive.

The city Council approved the preliminary plat with 20 conditions on June 5, 2017.

The subdivision improvement agreement amounts to $79,300.
