Dec. 28, 1971 – BLOXOM BRIDAL SHOWER

Miss Nancy Bloxom, who will wed Dennis Benda Dec. 31 in the United Methodist Church, was honored with a bridal shower in the home of Mrs. Charles Pennington. Mrs. Harold McCrum was co-hostess. Cake was served by Mrs. Kenneth Benda, mother of the groom-elect, while the bride’s mother, Mrs. Joe Bloxom, poured coffee. Other guests were Miss Olivia Sund, Mrs. Gertrude Racicot, Mrs. Helen Durkee, Mrs. Kittie Bopp, Mrs. Jim Hunt, Mrs. Dorothy Bloxom, Mrs. Delores Kelly, Mrs. Terri Jacobson, Mrs. Judi Hansen and Mrs. Clair Bloxom, the bride-to-be’s grandmother.

CO-OP BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The new board of directors of Co-op Gas & Supply Co., Inc. is the same as the old one. Three members whose terms were up, John Macki, Ardley Burt and Perry Larkin, were re-elected. Directors are Macki, President; Tom Copeland, Vice President; Burt, Secretary-Treasurer; Chet Van Stone; Fredolph Nelson; Larkin; Harp Turnbull; Dan Robinson.

KATHY ROSS FETED AT BRIDAL SHOWER

Miss Kathy Ross, who will wed Stephen Zender Jan. 8 at the Catholic Church, was honored with a bridal shower in Mrs. Ed Cornagey’s home. The bride-elect is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ross. Zender’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Richard Zender, Deming, Wash. Guests were Mrs. Harlan Walker, Mrs. Walter Burt, Lee McGee, Mrs. Fred Marienau, Mrs. Harold Egland, Mrs. Dwight Smith, Mrs. Dave Clark, Jr., Mrs. Kelly Langston, Mrs. J.P. Munson, Mrs. Herb Johnson, Mrs. Joe Shear, Mrs. Howard Faux, Mrs. Jack Ross, Miss Ann Ross, Miss Mary K. Faux and Mrs. Cobb.

Dec. 28, 1921 – SMALLPOX PREVALENT

County Health Officer Wendle reports 40 cases of smallpox in the county. Very few of the cases have been severe. There are 50 cases of chickenpox at Kootenai, where I.L. Olson has been appointed health officer for the village to assist in the quarantine work.

WILL HAVE A HOUN’ DAWG

Sheriff Kirkpatrick announced that he will add a bloodhound to his staff to assist in trailing bad men. A number of robberies in the county where a bloodhound could scent the midnight workers has led the sheriff to believe that a bloodhound would run down the thieves.

CROSSING RIVER ON THE ICE

The recent cold wave has frozen up the river at Laclede so that it can be walked across. The freeze-up has resulted in the shutting down of the A.C. White sawmill at Laclede. Just below Laclede two million feet of logs of the C.W. Beardmore mill at Priest River are frozen in and the Beardmore sawmill is closed down.

BOATS TIE UP

The craft of the Northern Navigation company is in winter quarters following the freeze-up of the lake at the city dock, all but the steamer Northern which will make the winter mail run from Hope.
