SPOKANE VALLEY — Parker Childs hit three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter for the Sandpoint Bulldogs, which built a 39-22 halftime lead, then held on late for a 73-68 win over the Lakeside Eagles of Nine Mile Falls in the Eagle Holiday Classic at West Valley High on Tuesday.

“We got out to a really good start,” Sandpoint coach Brian Childs said. “We had a nice lead and played with a lot of energy, played well in transition and built a nice lead. Unfortunately, we had halftime, and had a bit of a letdown in the second half and things went their way. But give our guys credit, they made enough plays to hang on.”

Sandpoint (3-4) went 8 of 23 from the free throw line in the game.

“We had chances to put them away, and it’s something that we need to remedy,” Childs said. “We just need to keep plugging away and have the confidence that we’re going to make them. We made 15 3-pointers as a team, and had to scratch out a win.”

Randy Lane scored 19 points for Sandpoint, which faces Medical Lake tonight at 8.

Lakeside is 4-5.
