GEORGE — Grant County Sheriff’s Office deputies are looking for a man who robbed a George market at gunpoint Friday.

The incident occurred at about 1 p.m. Friday at Sandoval’s Food Store, 406 S. Frontage Road NW, according to a GCSO press release. There were no injuries.

The suspect, a Hispanic male, was armed with a black handgun. The amount of money taken is being withheld during the investigation, the press release stated.

The suspect was last seen running south, away from the market into the George community, the press release said.

The suspect is described as being in his early 20s, about five feet, five inches tall and weighing about 145 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie, black pants and a black mask.

Sheriff’s deputies searched the area with the help of a GCSO K-9 unit, Washington State Patrol troopers and officers from the Quincy Police Department, but the suspect was not found. He may have escaped in a waiting vehicle, the press release said.

The robbery in George follows an armed robbery at Brownie’s Korner near Royal City Jan. 23. GCSO Public Information Officer Kyle Foreman said deputies are considering the possibility the two are linked, “but nothing yet firmly connects the two events.”
