The Thompson Falls Lady Hawks enjoyed two easy wins last week to improve to 8-2 overall and 5-1 in Western 7B play.

The Lady Hawks routed Troy 81-11 and then topped Anaconda, 68-52, on the road.

The Lady Hawks defense put the stifled Troy, taking a 24-0 lead after one quarter of play.

Thompson Falls outscored Troy 37-2 in the second half to complete the overwhelming win. In doing so, they recorded their second shutout of the game, a 16-0 fourth quarter advantage.

Megan Baxterled with a game high 26 points.

Two days later in a road game against Western 6B opponent Anaconda, the Lady Hawks once again built an early lead and were never seriously threatened.

Senior forward Jody Detlaff led all scorers with 23 points and the visitors jumped to an 18-3 lead at the end of one quarter on their way to a 38-27 halftime advantage.

The two teams traded baskets in the third quarter, but the Lady Hawks still added a point to their halftime lead and held a 51-39 with eight minutes to go in the game.

With Baxter and Detlaff ruling the roost under the basket, the Lady Copperheads could come no closer than 12 points.

Joining Detlaff in double figure scoring were the Baxter girls, Megan with 15 points and Ellie with 13.

Next up for the Lady Hawks is a home game Friday against Loyola of Missoula, followed the next evening with a road encounter against Eureka, which handed Thompson Falls its only conference loss of the season, a 49-42 setback.
