Authorities in Florida arrested a man Jan. 26 after the Polson Police Department received reports of someone “making vague threats of violence” the previous Saturday, with further investigation revealing a threat to conduct a mass shooting at Cherry Valley Elementary School.

On Jan. 25 the Polson Police Department notified the Polson School District Administrators, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Polson School Resource Officer, and the Miami Beach Police Department, which took Linde Lambson into custody without incident, according to a press release from the city of Polson.

The Polson School District received notification Tuesday morning that Lambson had been released on bond.

“The district takes the safety of its students seriously, and we will continue to work with law enforcement to monitor the situation,” said Scott C. Boen, director of human resources and communications for the district in a message to parents Tuesday.

“First I would like to thank the citizens that came forward with the communicated threats to our schools,” Polson Police Chief Wade Nash said in a prepared statement. “ Secondly, I would like to thank our partners with the Polson School District, Lake County Sheriff’s Office and the Miami Beach Police Department. While the threat was not immediate due to the suspect’s location, it was gravely concerning and thanks to everyone involved it came to a peaceful resolution.”
