SANDPOINT — The Sandpoint Police Department is warning residents of a "pay or arrest" phone scam making the rounds locally.

No one from local law enforcement will call regarding a "pay or arrest," the department said in a post to Facebook. Scammers are using local law enforcement numbers to perpetrate the scam.

The department counsels residents to be vigilant and to never provide any financial information, cash or gift cards.
