Notable calls for the day!

02-07-2021

Day Shift handled the following notable calls:

• A Deputy handled a disabled vehicle call up on the Bunco Trail approximately 3 miles. Caller in stated they spoke to a female who was walking on the road and said she was stuck up past the barricades. The Deputy was able to track down the female who admitted to going behind the barricades and getting stuck. There was no other occupants in the vehicle and she made it back to town. The Deputy citied her for violation of county ordinance 6-4-4(2) and provided her with Shaffer's Towing contact info to recover her vehicle.

Evening Shift handled the following notable calls:

• A Deputy responded to a found child after it was reported that three year old had wandered through a front door and into the residence on Blackberry Dr. Upon Deputies arrival the parents were on scene. No crime was committed and the parents were provided with tips on how to secure the residence. 21-05995

• A Deputy responded to multiple reports of gunshots or fireworks in the area of the block of Government Way, all the way into the Rocking R area. Nothing was found in the area and it was likely fireworks related to the Super Bowl. 21-06009

•  A Deputy responded to a DUI/Traffic Offense that was followed into the Ziggy's parking lot in Hayden. The Deputy contacted the driver near the Habitat for Humanity. He was not intoxicated, however he admitted to taking items from the donation area, directly next to the sign stating it was "donation only". He also admitted he frequently takes items from the donation area. He was cited for Petit Theft and Possession of Stolen Property for the items in his vehicle. 21-06010

• Deputies responded to the area of Hauser Lake Rd and Woodland Beach Rd for a reported UTV stopped on the ice. The reporting party stated a UTV appeared to be parked beyond the shoreline with its bright lights on and music blaring. The reporting party stated the individuals were likely intoxicated. Upon arriving to the scene the vehicle was located parked on the shoreline. The individuals were the owners of the property and no crime occurred. 21-06024

•  A Deputy stopped a vehicle near Highway 95 and Honeysuckle Avenue. The Deputy arrested the driver for DUI. 21-06030

• A Deputy responded to a call of a missing father and daughter. The two had not been seen since earlier in the afternoon when they sent text messages to their family stating they would be there soon. Deputies attempted several pings of his phone which had a highly inaccurate search radius of some 25,000 meters. An ATL was aired for the vehicle (a 2014 black Jeep Wrangler with Dave Smith paper plates) and a search of the Chilco Lake area, closest to the ping location, was conducted without success. At this time their whereabouts remain unknown and, although it is not likely, family believe he may have taken his new vehicle off road in the back country. A report was completed. 21-06017

• Deputies responded to the Casino, in the area of the Jackpot Java coffee stand, for a reported disorderly female. The female was intoxicated and refusing to speak with security. It was later learned the female was not being disorderly but had been observed sitting between two parked cars in the parking lot prior to security checking on her behavior. Upon the units arrival they contacted a female who was highly intoxicated and appeared to have been severely overserved during a Super Bowl party at the Casino. Deputies interviewed the bartender who admitted the female appeared heavily intoxicated after she served her an alcoholic beverage. The bartender admitted to not intervening in her alcohol consumption despite her observations. She was cited for over serving. The female was released from the scene back to security as she had committed no crime and Casino staff coordinated her safety from that point on. 21-06005

Night Shift handled the following notable calls:

• A Deputy responded to Super One in Hayden for a suspicious male in a motorhome acting strangely. On arrival he contacted a male who was homeless and living out of his RV. He only parked there for security reasons. Super One did not want him trespassed or to leave, they were only concerned about potential suspicious behavior.

• A Deputy responded to the CDA Casino for a welfare check on a female who was acting erratic. On scene he contacted a female who was animated, but nothing more. She advised she received a ride to the Casino from friend and intended to gamble before taking a bus back to CDA.

• A Deputy responded to Medimont for a report of an elderly male walking outside and not returning in a reasonable time. The Deputy was able to contact the male by telephone. He confirmed the male was fine, and was draining the water out of his boat. He advised his wife.

• Deputies responded to Rantenan Creek Road for a suspicious vehicle that was reported to have "tore up" the reporting party's driveway. A male was contacted at a neighboring property where he is staying. It was reported that the vehicle he was in was possibly a DUI, however, no one could confirm if the male was driving. An FI was completed. 21-06053

Notable calls for the day!

Day Shift handled the following notable calls:

• A Deputy responded to a possible trespassing/grand theft of timber in the area of 1st X Lorraine. The owner's employee called to report someone possibly cutting wood without permission. No signs of woodcutters were found and the owner was unable to be reached.

• Deputies responded to a 2 vehicle collision at Atlas X Hayden. Upon arrival, no collision was located, however, a license plate was found. The company who owned the vehicle was located and driver was contacted.

• A Deputy responded to N. Hauser Lake Rd. after the RP found that his storage unit had been broken into and several items taken. Items included car parts and other household items.

• A Deputy handled a citizen dispute at the apartments on Tobler Rd. Two 70 YO residents had words where one threatened to beat the other one up. Neither party wanted any action taken, but wanted the situation documented and LE notified.

• Deputies responded to Triple Play for a report of a 9YO attacking people and out of control. Upon response, the child was throwing a temper tantrum and no one was in danger. He was released to his parents after he calmed down.

• Deputies responded to a verbal domestic dispute in the area of HWY 53 X Fowler. Upon arrival, it was determined that the dispute was in regards to jointly owned property. Parties were separated and an FI completed.

Evening Shift handled the following notable calls:

• Deputies responded to a reported Traffic Hazard near Ramsey Rd. X Diagonal Rd. for a blue sedan stuck on the tracks. Contact with BNSF was made however it was too late as the train had already struck the vehicle. After investigating, units determined an elderly female was following directions on a GPS unit, and turned down the tracks. Luckily another motorist got her out of her vehicle before the train hit it. The area was closed to traffic for some time, however very luckily non-injury. 21-05918

• Multiple units along with some units from ISP responded to the area of Hayden X Reed for a reported Citizen Dispute in the roadway with vehicles involved blocking the road and reportedly multiple "teenagers" in the roadway. An update was there was possibly 40-50 people involved. On scene no dispute was located. There was a DJ or some type of music fest/party occurring at a residence on N. Reed. Aside from some vehicles parked along the shoulder of the roadway, no issues were found there was just a vehicle and one male walking back towards the residence. After speaking with one of the occupants of the vehicle, they advised there had possibly been someone hit with a bottle earlier, however that person could not be located. A Deputy was able to make contact with an occupant inside, and then several people emerged from the residence and left the location at the request of the homeowner. 21-05930

Night Shift handled the following notable calls:

• Deputies responded to the casino for a reported disturbance. Prior to their arrival Tribal PD arrived on scene and detained the individuals involved. A male and female were contacted and it was determined nothing physical between them had occurred. Marijuana was located in their room by casino security. The marijuana was seized and no charges were filed due to the circumstances of how the marijuana was located. 21-05934

• A Deputy contacted a suspicious vehicle that was blocking the road at Hollister Hills and Highway 53. He contacted the driver who exhibited the symptoms of intoxication. She advised she had been involved in a domestic with her husband earlier in the city of Post Falls. She was arrested for DUI. 21-05936

• Deputies responded to Stateline Showgirls for a battery. The manager advised he attempted to escort a female out of the establishment for bringing in her own alcoholic beverage and when he began to lead her out, she turned and punched him in the face. The manager wished to pursue charges so she was charged for battery. 21-05943

• Deputies responded to W. Driftwood Dr. for a possible burglary in progress. An R/P called and advised she was at home alone and her alarm went off and she believed someone was in her house. When Deputies arrived, they checked the perimeter and discovered all doors and windows to be secure. No signs of anyone being outside the residence or attempting entry. 21-05944

Day Shift handled the following notable calls:

• A Deputy observed a 2 vehicle non injury accident at Hayden X Reed. Report completed.

Deputies responded to the area of Chilco X Abbott for a report of a reckless driver. While looking for the suspect vehicle, they called in as well. Both vehicles were finally stopped in the area of Brunner X HWY 54. During the contact, it was learned that the situation was actually a possible child custodial issue. Other than the reported driving issues no other crimes were committed. An FI was completed.

• A Deputy stopped a vehicle in the area of Huetter X Lancaster for a traffic violation. While conducting his investigation a K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. Marijuana was located in the vehicle. The 17YO driver was released to his mother who was already on scene.

• Deputies responded to Hayden Lake Rd. X Hayden Creek Rd. for a 2 vehicle non injury vehicle collision where a delivery driver hit a passenger vehicle. Collision report completed

• A Deputy responded to a report of a bus driver in the Athol area being threatened. After a potential road rage type incident transpired, a suspect pulled up next to the driver and made a statement to the effect of "Someone is going to kill you, but it won't be me", and left.

Evening Shift handled the following notable calls:

• Deputies responded to a reported Verbal Domestic at W. Cardinal Ave. On scene they spoke with a male and female who were arguing about issues surrounding the condition of the house and how the male had not gotten a job. The male was charged for Domestic Battery in the presence of a child. 21-05767

• Deputies responded to W. Park Ln. reference a Welfare Check on a female subject there who texted her sister and told her to call 911. A Deputy arrived in the area and while waiting for cover, a female emerged from the residence advising the Deputy she had been strangled, and the male subject was also in possession of weapon. The male appeared on the porch and originally failed to follow commands. After investigating, Deputies arrested the male for Attempted Strangulation. 21-05802

• Deputies responded to the area of Seltice x Beck for a report of a DUI originally aired for Hauser Lake Rd. X Burdette. After contacting the driver, the Deputy performed FST's and the male driver was arrested for DUI. 21-05827

• Deputies responded to a report of a Non-Injury Crash at Nashville North. The call was updated to advise a male subject on scene had struck a vehicle and then was found to be possibly DUI. The Deputy charged the male for DUI. 21-05807

• A Deputy responded to Super 1 Foods-Hayden reference a Shoplifter. On scene he contacted a female in the LP office. She was served a citation for theft. 21-05811

• Deputies along with Spirit Lake PD responded to a reported Structure Fire at N. Tahoe Dr. On scene the occupants had evacuated, and fire units were able to get a knock down on the fire before it spread to whole house. The family will be displaced for an unknown time frame due to the damage. 21-05831

Night Shift handled the following notable calls:

• A Deputy was behind a vehicle on Seltice Way near Cruisers bar. The vehicle changed lanes, turned their hazards on and pulled over. The Deputy conducted a motorist assist and contacted the driver who said he thought he was being pulled over. The driver displayed the symptoms of intoxication. He was arrested for DUI. 21-05825

• Deputies responded to N. Starr Loop regarding a weapon offense. The R/P called in advised he was barricaded in his house because someone was trying to shoot him. In doing research, it was discovered male has some mental health issues and there were several prior notations of similar calls for service. Contact was attempted several times without success. Deputies checked the area and did not see or hear anything. 21-05830

• Several Deputies responded to the area of S. Gallatin Rd. regarding reports of someone driving E/B on Riverbend Ave. shooting a gun. There were two callers on this incident, however, the vehicle was not located nor was any evidence uncovered of shots being fired in the area. 21-05833

• Deputies responded to W. Wyoming Ave. for a reported possible physical domestic. Upon arrival a male was heard in a room of the upstairs apartment slamming large items around on the ground and it was unknown if he was hitting someone. Contact was made with the male, who came to the door, he was uncooperative and resisted being detained. Directly inside the door was a loaded 30 round magazine for what was later learned to be a 10mm and multiple items of paraphernalia in plain sight. The investigation revealed the male was high on drugs and got into a fight with his roommates. He punched several holes in the doors and walls of the residence and shoved a female friend down on the ground. He also had the 10mm in his possession during all this which was ultimately taken away and made safe by another roommate. The male was ultimately placed under arrest for obstructing and under citizen’s arrest for battery and malicious injury to property. 21-05834

• A Deputy stopped a vehicle on Highway 95 and Neider Ave. He contacted the driver who exhibited the symptoms of intoxication. The driver failed SFST's and provided breath samples of .147/.148. He was arrested for 2nd offense DUI. The passenger was also cited and released for possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. 21-05835

• Deputies responded to W. Bodine Ave. for a disturbance. The R/P called in to advise her son was having a psychological episode and trying to break into her room. Upon arrival, Deputies made contact with the son who was cooperative. It was determined no crime was committed, however, due to son’s mental state, he was placed on a PC hold. 21-05838
