SPIRIT LAKE — Timberlake took down Priest River girls basketball 59-20 in the first round of the 3A District 1 tournament on Monday night.
It was the Tigers, the defending 3A state champions, third win over the Spartans (4-16) this season.
With the loss, Priest River, the fourth seed, moves to the district loser-out game to face No. 2 Kellogg. The Spartans head to Kellogg High at 6 p.m. tonight and must win to keep their season alive.

In Monday's game, Priest River fell behind 30-10 at the half and could never recover. The Spartans saw seniors Hannah Palfrey and Makia Fitzmorris return to the lineup and the duo combined for 10 points. Sophomore Lilly Freitas added four points.
