COEUR d’ALENE — A man is in jail after he allegedly punched a police officer.
Kevyn A. Jones, 33, of Coeur d’Alene, is charged with two counts of battery upon an officer, both felonies.
Police responded Saturday night to a report of an intoxicated man damaging parked vehicles in the area of 9th Street and Best Avenue in Coeur d’Alene.
The man, identified as Jones, reportedly did not comply with police when they attempted to detain him.
Jones allegedly pulled away when an officer grabbed his arm, then punched the officer in the head with a closed fist.
Two officers reportedly pulled Jones to the ground, where he continued to struggle, according to court documents. Police said Jones kicked one of the officers before being handcuffed.
Emergency responders transported Jones to the hospital, where he reportedly refused treatment.
After Jones was medically cleared, police transported him to the Kootenai County jail, according to court documents.
Judge Robert Burton ordered Monday that Jones be held on $50,000 bail.
