MATTAWA — The Mattawa City Council voted Feb. 4 to make March 1 Scott Hyndman Day.

Council member Brian Berghout proposed the proclamation as a way to recognize former Mayor Scott Hyndman for all the work he did for the city of Mattawa. Hyndman served as mayor and city council member and helped with road projects and stripping police cars of city equipment prior to being sold. Berghout said Hyndman did these things without requesting compensation.

“This is an on the record thing, like we named a street after Blanca,” Berghout said. “This is a recognition for his years of service to the town.”
