COEUR d’ALENE — Cooper Larson stands 5-foot-10, but for what it’s worth, he’s got a knack for getting to the free throw line for Coeur d’Alene.

In crunch time on Wednesday, Larson did it again, and helped deliver the Vikings a 47-45 win over the Lakeland Hawks in a nonconference game at Viking Court.

With the game tied at 45 with 11 seconds remaining, Larson attempted a 3-pointer and drew a foul with .3 seconds remaining, making the first two and missing the final attempt. Lakeland was able to call a timeout, but unable to get a tying shot off.

“Cooper’s good at drawing fouls and gets to the line a lot for a little guy,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jon Adams said. “It was cool to see on senior night. Lakeland played well early on.”

Cameren Cope scored 19 points for Coeur d’Alene (8-8), which concludes the regular season at Lake City on Friday.

Bryce Henry scored 11 points for Lakeland (7-7), which is scheduled to host Moscow on Saturday at 3 p.m.

SANDPOINT — Caden McLean and Alex Horning scored 15 points each for the Trojans, who outscored the Bulldogs 34-17 in the second half for the nonleague win at Les Rogers Court.

“I thought defensively, we were able to put some more pressure on them,” Post Falls coach Mike McLean said. “In the first half, we got them into some turnovers, and a lot of them went out of bounds and didn’t allow us to get into transition. We also missed some shots that we typically make. We’ve got to keep shooting the shots and doing what we do, and shot our normal percentage in the second half.”

Colin Roos led the team with 11 points, five rebounds and three steals. Lee finished with 10 points and three rebounds, Ethan Butler tallied seven points and seven rebounds and Bailey and Max Frank each scored five. Parker Pettit dished out four assists.

Caden McLean also had four rebounds and four steals for Post Falls (12-5), which hosts Lewiston on Friday.

GRANGEVILLE — The spirit was there for the Lumberjacks, but the energy coming off Tuesday’s thrilling win at Orofino, didn’t quite carry over against the Bulldogs.

St. Maries was held to three points in the second half of a loss to Grangeville in the 2A District 1-2 championship game, ending its season 8-11.

“Early on, we tried to stay with them,” St. Maries coach Gary Krumheuer said. “The effort was there, but our legs were gone. It was a little tough on us, and they just hammered us on the boards. They’re the No. 3 team in the state (media polls), and showed it tonight. We had a nice season, and it was nice to get a win (against Orofino) to cap it off.”
