David Thompson Search and Rescue will hold their annual avalanche safety course on Feb. 20.

Those interested in the event should complete a short online tutorial beforehand. The primer can be found by visiting avalanche.org and clicking on the tutorial tab on the banner menu. Jon Jeresek, DTSR volunteer, said the tutorial can be completed leisurely in just over an hour.

Participants will meet at the Turner Mountain parking lot at 8 a.m. The course will go over the online tutorial and cover topics including snowpack analysis, digging and rescues. Jeresek said the instruction would last until around 12:30 p.m.

Participants will earn a free ski ticket for that afternoon.
