Notable calls for the day!

02-12-2021

Day Shift handled the following notable calls:

• A CSO conducted follow up investigation from yesterday's business embezzlement of over $215000 worth the silver bullion. Electronic documentation proving that the silver was a business asset was recovered today. One of the business partner's soon to be ex-wife took all of the silver while they were separated and allegedly secured it in a safety deposit box. After she was confronted, she advised she would not give it up and lawyered up. The case was forwarded to Detectives.

• A Deputy completed additional follow up reference the runaway/missing from last night.

Deputies again responded to an address on Heron Ave. for a family dispute. Adult sisters were parting ways and an argument ensued. There were no crimes committed and they should finally be living in separate locations.

Evening Shift handled the following notable calls:

• Thanks to excellent initial investigations, SIU Detectives were able to gather surveillance video and locate and identify the suspects involved in the incident where a male was beaten severely. After hours of interviews two subjects were arrested on several felony charges. A third was charged with Criminal Conspiracy. This is an ongoing investigation and more charges and arrests may happen.

• A Deputy was in the area of the Stateline Wal-Mart wherein he observed a Suspicious Vehicle in the parking lot area. Upon contacting the occupant, she was subsequently arrested for her warrant. 21-06797

• A Deputy responded to Super One Foods-Athol reference a Shoplifter. A male was contacted by loss prevention but left the store after stealing a couple of sockets from the Ace Hardware section. The Deputy contacted the male at his residence and issued him a citation for Commercial Burglary and Petit Theft. 21-06808

• A Deputy stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Clearwater Loop X Riverbend Ave. After contacting the male driver a search of the vehicle was conducted and Meth was found. He was arrested for the drug charge.

• Deputies along with Spirit Lake Police Officers, Spirit Lake Fire, and Northern Lakes Fire (ALS) responded to Spirit Lake reference a male subject that had reportedly fallen off a cliff or a dock and was reportedly but was not in the water. Once on scene units learned the male and three of his friends walked across the frozen lake to the south shore (with ambient air temperature of approx. 9-10F) to have fun on the rope swing. One male subject apparently fell from the swing and when he hit the ice, he went Unconscious. EMS/Fire units utilized their rescue sled to traverse the lake, remove the patient from the ice and bring him back to the ambulance safely. Dive Team members also responded with additional gear for an ice rescue (secondary team deployment) should the first team need it. The male was transported via ambulance to KH. 21-06841

Night Shift handled the following notable calls:

• A Deputy stopped a vehicle at Seltice Way and Wellsley Ave. He contacted the driver who exhibited the symptoms of intoxication. The driver failed SFSTs and refused to submit to a breath test. He was arrested for DUI. 21-06852

• During routine patrol in the area of Riverview Dr. and Marion Ct., a Deputy observed rocks in the roadway. When he exited his vehicle to clear the debris, he discovered skid marks in the roadway and a vehicle down the embankment. The driver of the vehicle was located a short distance away from the vehicle, uninjured, and appeared to try to be hiding from the Deputy. The driver was semi-cooperative throughout the investigation. He exhibited the symptoms of intoxication and refused to submit to a breath test. He was charged for DUI. 21-06863

• Deputies responded to the area of Strahorn and St. James for a possible DUI/slide off with shots fired. The RP, advised there was a vehicle on scene who was stuck in the snow and after he refused to help the driver out and drove off he heard a shot. A Deputy responded to the area and located the R/P at Highway 53 and Church Rd. It was determined that none of the parties were ever off Strahorn. He said a male posted on Facebook that he needed help as he was stuck on Nelson Loop Rd. He got the male unstuck, however he was intoxicated and got stuck a few more times. The R/P decided he was no longer going to help the male and left him. After leaving, he heard a single shot, but did not believe the male was shooting at him. A few minutes later, the male got himself unstuck and drove by R/P heading towards Spokane. An FI was completed. 21-06865

Day Shift handled the following notable calls:

• Deputies responded to N. HWY 41 for a family dispute. Family members were fighting over money. One of the sisters had an active warrant and was believed to be high on meth. Warrants were confirmed out of Kootenai and Shoshone Counties. Units searched the area, but the sister left the scene prior to arrival. She was not located at any local businesses. The other sister/home owner was cited and released for mara.

• Deputies responded to a panic hold up alarm at a coffee stand in Athol. It was unfounded.

• Deputies responded to a hit and run crash in Hayden. The suspect vehicle was still on scene, though unoccupied. The suspect vehicle was a rental. The driver and victim were contacted and info was exchanged after the rental company provided the insurance information for the swap form.

• Deputies responded to Ridge Dr. in PF for a report of a family dispute in progress. Upon arrival, it was determined that a mutual combat battery occurred between an adult father and son following a funeral. Neither party wanted to pursue charges. A CV battery report completed.

• As a Deputy was patrolling the area around Fernan Lake he noticed a large number of vehicles were parked at the boat launch. Several vehicles were advised to move into parking areas in case of an emergency response.

Evening Shift handled the following notable calls:

• A Deputy responded to the A-1 Smoke Shop reference a Theft. A cashier there advised he believed a younger female stole lighters from the business. 21-06959

• Deputies responded to Nashville North for a reported of a Cardiac event. On scene they located a female that had a medication patch, and she was also extremely intoxicated but not experiencing a cardiac event. The female was transported to KH as a precaution. 21-06968

• Deputies responded to E. Stanley Hill Rd. reference a possible Suicidal Subject. The RP stated she was on the phone with her mother and heard 1 gunshot. She called her mother back and her mother then allegedly fired 3 more shots. On scene Deputies contacted the mother who was later placed in Protective Custody, and transported to KH.

• A Deputy was in the area of the Red Lion (West) when he observed a Suspicious Male near a black truck. As the Deputy was started to check out with the male he suddenly ran and foot pursuit ensued. The Deputy chased the male for a distance, and then was able to take him into custody. He was arrested for resisting/obstructing and additionally arrested for a NCO violation due to him not supposed to be within 1,000 feet of the Red Lion. 21-06983

Night Shift handled the following notable calls:

• A Patrol Sergeant contacted a suspicious vehicle at Early Dawn and Highway 41. Contact was made with a female who was very lethargic and initially not responding. Additional Deputies arrived on scene to conduct a DUI investigation. The driver would not cooperate with the SFST's and when she was being detained began to resist. She also refused to submit to a breath test. She was charged for obstructing and for DUI. 21-06991

• A Deputy stopped a vehicle at Seltice Way and Pleasant View Rd. Upon contacting the driver he detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. A search revealed a vape pen with THC vape juice. The driver was cited and released for PCS marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. 21-06992

• A Deputy responded to W. Brunner Rd. for a structure fire. Upon arrival, it was learned the shop had caught fire. Deputies assisted Fire Personnel as they put out the fire. No other structures were damaged.

• Deputies contacted a suspicious vehicle parked at the Hayden Walmart. Deputies observed the vehicle to be running and a female to be sitting on the passenger seat. The female was on the “nod” and could not keep her head up. Upon contact, Deputies observed paraphernalia in plain view. Both occupants were detained and a search was conducted. A large amount of paraphernalia was located as well as user amounts of marijuana and methamphetamine. Both occupants admitted to using drugs hours before contacted and both occupants were charged with the items located 21-07008.

Day Shift handled the following notable calls:

• While in briefing a call came in regarding a stranded motorist on FSR 202 up Marie Creek. Call notes indicated a snowmobile would be needed to get to where the vehicle was stuck. Backcounty Deputies were notified and began gathering equipment to deploy to the area. While in-route it was learned the motorist was no longer stranded and Backcountry units were no longer needed.

• Deputies responded to S. West Point Rd. in Worley for a medical call, CPR in progress. A 67 year old male was found unresponsive by his spouse who called EMS for help. The male had numerous medical conditions and nothing appeared suspicious.

Evening Shift handled the following notable calls:

• A Deputy responded to a residential burglary at W Hwy 53 after the R/P called to report an open door to the residence. She immediately suspected her ex-husband to be in the residence. It was later determined that he had permission from the actual homeowner to be there, where he was retrieving his items. 21-07059

• Deputies responded to E 6th Street in Bayview for a DUI. The homeowner called in to report that a vehicle had driven into his backyard and was high centered on creek. He reported the driver was possibly intoxicated. On scene they found the vehicle and driver to be well into the backyard and highly intoxicated. She refused to provide a BrAC sample. She was charged for DUI. 21-07079

• Deputies responded to N Gibson Road for a disorderly. An R/P called to report a male was outside his residence screaming and yelling. On scene they contacted a male. The male was walking his dog when the R/P’s dog began barking at them, which led to both dogs getting into a fight from opposite sides of the fence. This caused the R/P and the male to get into an argument. The situation was deescalated and the deputies left. A short time later the R/P called back stating male was on the sidewalk shining a light into his residence, following the occupants around. The deputies responded back and warned the male of trespass of privacy. They left again, telling the male to move along. While the Deputy was in the area he saw the male taking photos of R/P’s residence, and he was contacted again. The male became upset and started to yell at the deputies. When questioned why he was hanging around the R/P’s residence and taking photos, he claimed that he believed the fence and gate to be illegal, but couldn't describe how. He cited and released for Stalking II.

Night Shift handled the following notable calls:

• Deputies responded to W. Van Buren Street to assist SLPD with a domestic violence. SLPD handled primary. 21-07080

• Deputies responded to E. Chilco Rd for a suicide threat. An R/P stated his wife was extremely intoxicated and grabbed a knife and threatened to kill herself. Deputies placed the female in protective custody. 21-07086

• Deputies responded to N. Lamson Lane for a family dispute. The R/P stated his 29 year old son was upset that his vehicle wasn’t working and began screaming and threatening the R/P.
