NAMPA — The Post Falls Trojans were eight minutes away from playing for a trophy at the state 5A girls basketball tournament.

But the Trojans shot 0 for 13 in the fourth quarter, as well as 2 for 6 from the free-throw line, and lost to the Timberline Wolves of Boise 46-39 in a loser-out game Friday night at Ridgevue High.

“We were there and had our chances, but the scoring woes we’ve had all year bit us in the end,” Post Falls coach Marc Allert said.

Trinidie Nichols had eight points to lead Post Falls (14-9), which finished 12 of 48 from the floor.

Junior Sophie Glancey had 13 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots for Timberline (12-3), which plays Boise for the consolation title this morning at Ridgevue.

“They have two collegiate posts, and we battled like crazy,” Allert said. “Capri (Sims, a post for Post Falls) fouled out early in the fourth quarter, and they (the Wolves) went strictly high-low and we had a hard time stopping that.

“But I’m super proud of the way the kids just battled. They played super hard; the ball just didn’t go in at the end.”

Dylan Lovett had seven points and five rebounds, and Hanna Christensen had eight rebounds for Post Falls, which led 27-18 early in the third quarter.

“Dylan, her and Maya (Blake) and Montana (Buckley) did a great job not wanting their playing careers to end,” Allert said. “I’m super proud of how they played, and how they conducted themselves as players.”
