Garbage rates increasing in Mattawa

MATTAWA — The Mattawa City Council voted Feb. 18 to raise the rate for residential garbage from $18 to $23 beginning March 1.
The raise is a result of increased fees charged by Consolidated Disposal Services Incorporated, the garbage service for the City of Mattawa.
City Clerk Anabel Martinez told the council the $23 does not reflect taxes and the total rate would be closer to $25.
“I believe that this is, as a city, out of our hands,” said council member Tony Acosta.
