Robert 'Bob' Wallace McCuaig, 58
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 5 years, 6 months AGO
On Feb. 18, 2021, Robert Wallace McCuaig (“Bob”), loving husband and father of three children, passed away at the age of 58. Bob was born in Detroit on Feb. 10, 1963, to Wallace and Virginia McCuaig. They moved to Colorado in 1964, where Bob grew up and graduated from Columbine High School in 1981.
After graduating, Bob began work as a finish carpenter with his uncle, Vern Carlson, and went on to start his own company, Colorado Design Interiors, in 1984. Bob surrendered his life to God at the age of 21 and three months later, met Nila Cotten.
Bob and Nila married on Sept. 22, 1984. They made their home in Denver, Colo., with their three children: Christopher, Austen and Jarren.
In December of 2006, Bob and Nila moved to Post Falls, Idaho, with their youngest son, Jarren. Within 10 months, Bob was diagnosed with Huntington’s disease. Bob’s skilled service dog, Exeter, joined the McCuaig family in 2010 and was a constant loyal companion, providing comfort and care as Bob’s health declined over the next 14 years.
Despite the many neurological and physical obstacles that occurred as the disease progressed, Bob’s frequent testimony “I just want to be more like Jesus in the days to come,” was evident in his sweet and humble spirit.
Bob loved spending time with his family and God’s people. He enjoyed boating, camping, snow skiing and playing ball with his boys. He will be remembered for his quick wit and humor, love for others, faithfulness to God and his gentle spirit.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Nila McCuaig; his sons, Christopher (Lindsey) of Post Falls, Austen (Houston) of Spokane Valley, Wash. and Jarren of Post Falls; his three grandchildren: Brynnley, Bodee and Berlyn; father, Wallace McCuaig of Pueblo, Colo.; sister, Pam (Ken) Reid of Woodland Park, Colo. and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. Bob is preceded in death by his mother, Virginia McCuaig.
