Hunting and fishing licenses for the 2021 season will go on sale starting March 1, according to a press release from Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.

Beginning at 5 a.m. hunters and anglers will be able to buy licenses and apply for permits on FWP’s website (https://fwp.mt.gov). Sportsmen and women also can apply in-person at FWP offices. Most FWP offices are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The deadline to apply for deer and elk permits is April 1. Hunters will be able to apply for most species — including deer, elk, antelope, deer B, elk B, antelope B, moose, sheep, goat, bison, bear and turkey — beginning March 1.

The state’s licensing call center — which can be reached at 406-444-2950 — will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. from March 1 to April 1. After April 1, the center’s hours will shift to 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

To apply for a special license or permit, hunters and anglers must have a valid email address.
