POST FALLS — A woman is facing multiple charges after police said she stole a car from a local dealership on Christmas.
Spokane resident Jacqueline L. Mickey, 30, is charged with burglary and grand theft, both felonies.
Idaho State Police contacted a black Dodge Ram with no plates seen idling at the westbound Huetter rest area in Post Falls around 11 p.m. on Dec. 25. The truck was unoccupied, police said, though the engine was running and a door was open.
Parked beside the truck was a gold Pontiac Grand Am with a male driver and female passenger inside. The passenger reportedly got out of the car and walked into a bathroom.
The Grand Am drove away as police attempted to pull in behind the two vehicles.
Police said the truck’s key cylinder had been removed from the ignition and was sitting on the floor.
The truck’s registered owner was a used car dealership in Coeur d’Alene.
A witness told police a man drove the truck to the rest area, followed by a woman in a Grand Am. The man then allegedly got into the Grand Am, and the woman went into the bathroom.
The woman, identified as Mickey, allegedly told police the Grand Am belonged to her and the man who drove away in it was her boyfriend.
She reportedly said her boyfriend invited her to “demo” a truck at a closed car dealership around 10:30 p.m. Her boyfriend allegedly showed her the keys and said he knew the dealership owner, but when the pair arrived, he said they needed to jump start the truck.
The woman said she helped her boyfriend do so, after which the pair left the dealership in separate vehicles and met up at the rest area.
Police arrested Mickey at the scene.
Security footage reportedly showed that a gold Grand Am visited the dealership four times before the alleged theft.
Judge James Combo ordered Monday that Mickey be held on $50,000 bail.

Community Library Network’s new policies could fracture regional library consortium
For decades, the Community Information Network has enabled libraries in North Idaho and eastern Washington to share their collections and broadened patrons’ access to materials. Now a restrictive policy for minor library cardholders in the Community Library Network, unlike any other in the library consortium, could mean that patrons across the region lose access to library materials.
