CLARK FORK — Clark Fork boys basketball lost a thriller in the closing seconds to Mullan on Tuesday night.

The Tigers won 57-56 in the North Star League opener for both schools.

"Tough loss tonight, but the guys played their most intense game this season," assistant coach Stillman Berkley said.

The two teams traded the lead all night, but in the end a 30-point performance from Mullan's Luke Trogden was too much for the Wampus Cats to overcome.

Cameron Garcia led the team with 15 points and five rebounds. Carter Sanroman had 12 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Sam Barnett tallied 8 points, eight assists and seven rebounds. Cole Reuter hit a trio of 3-pointers.

Foul trouble got to the Wampus Cats in the fourth quarter. Garcia, Barnett and Chris Wade all fouled out.

"It was a high-paced game that we just couldn't finish," Berkley said. "The team is making progress and moving in the right direction."

The Wampus Cats (1-5, 0-1 NSL) host Lakeside at 7 p.m. Thursday.
