PREP ROUNDUP: Priest River rallies past North Idaho Christian girls

PRIEST RIVER -- North Idaho Christian held a five-point halftime lead, but the host Priest River Spartans outscored the Royals 10-2 in the third quarter en route to a 39-33 win on Monday night.

Lily Freitas (14 points), Hannah Palfrey (12 points) and Makia Fitzmorris (11 points) scored all but two of the Spartans' points, helping the 3A school rally past the Mountain Christian League Royals (8-3).

Freshmen Danica Kelly (11 points) and Symone Pilgrim (10 rebounds, five assists) led North Idaho Christian, who host Spokane Classical Christian at 5:30 tonight in a league matchup.

The Spartans played a strong first half and held off the visiting Royals in a nonconference matchup Monday night.

North Idaho Christian's Malachi Bullington had 12 points, 14 rebounds and two blocked shots in the game.

Priest River head coach Kevin Wylie said it took a team effort to contain the Royals' big man.

"It's tough to defend that guy and so being able to make some adjustments and throw a weakside defender and double down on him was great ... he had 27 points against us in the first matchup and we held him to 12 tonight."
