POST FALLS — A man is in jail after he allegedly admitted to fleeing police in November.

Coeur d’Alene resident Aaron S. Hefner, 38, is charged in separate cases with possession of a controlled substance and eluding, both felonies.

Police pulled Hefner over around 10 p.m. on Dec. 10 for an alleged traffic violation. Officers searched the vehicle after a K-9 alert and allegedly found a container with a crystalline substance inside, as well as other paraphernalia. The substance was determined to be meth, according to court documents.

Hefner, who was reportedly on probation, allegedly told police he had contraband in his sock. Officers said they found a baggie containing meth.

Hefner was also reportedly a suspect in a Nov. 11 eluding case. Post Falls Police attempted to pull Hefner over for an alleged traffic violation but said he did not stop, leading officers on a chase that reached speeds of 90 mph on Interstate 90. The chase reportedly ended when Hefner’s vehicle crossed into Washington.

When questioned, Hefner allegedly admitted to fleeing police on Nov. 11.

An eluding charge was filed against Hefner on Dec. 31.

He was reportedly convicted of grand theft in 2013 and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver in 2017. Both charges were felonies.

Hefner is being held on $100,000 bail.
