ST. MARIES — Senior wing Macie Rimel scored 12 of her 18 points in the second half, and the St. Maries Lumberjacks snapped a five-game losing skid with a 57-29 nonleague victory over the Wallace Miners on Thursday night.
Jenna Holder hit three 3-pointers and scored 11 of her 13 points in the third quarter for St. Maries (3-7), which outscored Wallace (3-5) 26-1 in the quarter.
“The first half we didn’t come out and play,” St. Maries coach Gary Krumheuer said. “We beat Wallace the first time (54-23) and thought it would be easy, and Wallace didn’t make it easy. Our press kicked in (in the third quarter), and we were all over the place.”
St. Maries, which came into the game shooting 19 percent on 3s, made seven against Wallace, including five in the third quarter, and was over 50 percent from behind the arc for the game, Krumheuer said.
Wallace plays host to Mullan tonight at 5:30.
St. Maries plays at Kellogg on Saturday in what was supposed to be the Brawl 4 the Ball spirit games.

• WRESTLING
CALDWELL — Hayden Berger (220 pounds) and Riley Siegford (145) went unbeaten on the night for Lakeland, which split in duals against Caldwell and Kuna on Thursday at Caldwell High.
Lakeland defeated Caldwell 46-33 in its first dual of the night, then lost 53-21 to Kuna.
Kuna, which captured the state 4A championship in 2020, moved up to the 5A classification this year.
Coeur d'Alene lost to Kuna 50-23, then lost to Caldwell 42-42, with the host Cougars winning on criteria (8 wins to 7).
Nolan Randles (145/152), Drew Roberts (152/160) and Mason Keough (138) won both of their matches for Coeur d'Alene.
“Both Mason and Jaxon wrestled really well,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat said. “We’re so inexperienced at the lower weights, but have some kids that are going to make some strides. Kuna’s a seasoned team, and our kids are trying and going to get better, but it’s going to take a while. Against Caldwell, we lost a couple of matches that we probably should have won. It’s tough to get off the bus and wrestle, but it’s a challenge that we love doing and we’re not going to shy away from it.”
Junior Gunner Giulio lost by a 6-5 decision to Kuna’s Dante Roggio, who won the state 4A title at 138 pounds in 2020.
“Gunner lifted him and took him to his back and got called for a slam,” Moffat said. “We lost a (team) point on that and he had another takedown that didn’t get called. We felt like he won the match, but just not on paper. But he’ll get another crack and it again this weekend.”
The annual Rollie Lane Invitational begins today at 7 a.m. PST. With no fans allowed, the tournament has been moved from the Ford Idaho Center to the nearby Ford Sports Center, which is used for indoor track and field events.
