RATHDRUM — The arraignment for a woman accused of fleeing a crash on State Highway 41 in August 2020 was postponed until next month.

Post Falls resident Kearen R. Young, 50, was charged with vehicular manslaughter, a felony, after one of the people hurt in the crash died.

Idaho State Police said 73-year-old Albert G. Galli and 49-year-old Amy L. Galli of Post Falls were riding a motorcycle together on Aug. 30, traveling southbound on SH-41, when Young failed to yield to traffic while turning west onto Village Boulevard.

The motorcycle reportedly hit Young’s vehicle on the passenger side.

The Gallis were launched over the vehicle and landed on the road, police said. They were taken to Kootenai Health by ambulance.

Young reportedly left the scene.

Police later located and arrested her. She was charged with two counts of aggravated DUI and with leaving the scene of an injury accident, all felonies.

She was released the next day after posting $30,000 bail.

Young was previously convicted of driving under the influence in Arizona in 2006 and 2007, according to court documents. She was also reportedly convicted of DUI in Hawaii in 2006.

Albert Galli died in early November.

Young’s attorney, Sean Walsh, said in court Tuesday that a pretrial settlement offer had been accepted prior to Galli’s death. However, after an autopsy was completed, prosecutors filed a new case against Young.

After Young was charged with vehicular manslaughter on Dec. 11, a judge issued a $100,000 warrant for her arrest on the same day.

She reportedly turned herself in two days later.

Judge Cynthia Meyer heard a joint motion Tuesday to reschedule Young’s arraignment so the parties can continue working toward a resolution.

Young will next appear in court on Feb. 9.
