RATHDRUM — On Wednesday, 4A Lakeland took the fight to 5A Lake City and didn’t let up, notching a 57-16 dual win at Lakeland High.
“Our kids have been wrestling tough all year, and that’s been our motto to wrestle tough this year,” Lakeland coach Rob Edelblute said. “We’ve got some fighters that go out and give it their all for six minutes, and it’s been showing when the third period comes along. They just finish matches.”
Sam Feusier notched a pin over Logan Parson in 1 minute, 7 seconds at 285-pounds to give Lakeland a 9-6 lead.
“Sam has just been wrestling tough,” Edelblute said. “We were a little concerned going in because Parson has been wrestling tough as well. We didn’t know what kind of Sam we were going to get this year, but after Rollie Lane (where Feusier finished runner-up), it has built a lot of confidence in him and he isn’t second-guessing his feet anymore.”
Matt Williams (98), Peyton Wysong (120), Lucas Williams (132), Austin Stutzke (138), Riley Siegford (145) and Cooper Johnson (160) had pins for Lakeland, which hosts Sandpoint and Nampa tonight starting at 5.
Ian Hampton (195) won by pin for Lake City, which competes in the River City Duals on Friday at Post Falls High.
“We wrestled a good team tonight,” Lake City coach Corey Owen said. “And when you don’t wrestle your best, that’s what’s going to happen. I told our guys that districts is a month away, and it’s time to buckle down and make some improvements. They just outwrestled us tonight.”

COEUR d’ALENE — With seven pins on the night — and a few technical falls in the mix — it’s exactly what Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat wants to see as the season takes a turn toward regionals.
