BONNERS FERRY — Clark Fork boys basketball just couldn't get within striking distance in a 63-50 loss to the Bonners Ferry JV team on Thursday night.
The Wampus Cats were within seven points at the half, but the Badgers outscored them 33-27 in the final 16 minutes to grab the victory.
Despite the loss, head coach Heath Beason was pleased with his team's effort.
"Our kids played real hard," he said. "We just couldn't buy a basket. This game was gut-wrenching because we played our hearts out. It seems like it's the small mistakes that get us. This game hurt because we were prepared."
Senior Cameron Garcia went off for 25 points, 10 rebounds and three assists. Carter Sanroman added 20 points, four rebounds and three steals.
These two teams will meet again when Clark Fork (1-8) hosts the Badgers' JV team at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
