Robert I. “Bob” Harwood, 84, passed away Jan. 17, 2021, at the Schneidmiller Hospice House. Bob was a resident of Dalton Gardens, Idaho. He was born May 30, 1936, to Utahna and Harold Sand, in Coeur d’Alene.
Bob graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army and was a paratrooper. Bob worked at Albertsons grocery store in Coeur d’Alene, then went to work for General Telephone Company and retired from GTC in Everett, Wash.
Bob was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Eagles and Avondale Golf Course. Some of his favorite things were golf, pool, hunting, fishing and playing cards.
He is survived by his wife, Bea Harwood at Creekside Memory Care Center in Coeur d’Alene; his sons, Douglas Harwood and Tom Harwood; his grandson, Sam Harwood; his brothers, Ron (Donna) Harwood of Hayden, Idaho, and Ray (Eleanor) Anderson of Seaside, Ore.; his sister-in-law, Lori (Bruce) Mechan of Palm Desert, Calif.; his cousins, Darrell Sand and Benny Johnson; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Bob is preceded in death by his mother, Utahna Bratche, and step-father, Conrad Bratche; his father, Harold Sand; and his father who adopted him, Lisle T. Harwood; his sisters, Louise Shelson and Delores Sand; and his brother, Bernard Harwood.
