COVID: Need a plan — stat

I read with great interest the letter submitted by Cheryl Armentrout on Jan. 15. Thought the letter clearly stated that we have no plan. Recently the governor was in this area visiting businesses. No vaccination sites to visit, since they didn’t exist.

I recently asked the Panhandle Health Department if they had a contract with the state, and if so, how many staff are assigned to provide vaccinations. Refuse to answer.

The state received $1.25 billion in the spring, and of this date, no information has been provided how much was received from the second package passed by Congress.

Is the state holding on to these funds for other purposes like transferring $2 million to the Unemployment Insurance Fund so employers can pay lower rates? Commendable idea, but are those rates more important than human lives?

I honestly believe if you hire Walgreens or a Walmart to provide vaccines, they will develop a plan and get it done. Our health providers are busy in their normal jobs. Clearly, we could do better.

Why can’t Idaho be a leader in this area, rather than being in the bottom five percent of states providing vaccinations. The only state below Idaho is Hawaii and locations like the Marshall Islands. How about some answers Governor?
