GILBERT, Ariz. — Derek Bayley of Rathdrum, the former Lakeland High and Washington State star, shot a 1-under-par 69 on Monday and finished second at the Western Skies Shootout, a one-day Outlaw Tour event at Western Skies Golf Club.
Thomas Lehman, son of 1996 British Open champion Tom Lehman, shot a 2-under-68 for the victory.
Pac-12 announces WSU men's basketball tip time updates
SAN FRANCISCO – The Pac-12 Conference announced the upcoming tip times for men's basketball for the first two weeks of February after working with its television partners and the member schools.
The Cougars play twice on the road to begin the new month while playing three times at home at Beasley Coliseum.
WSU will play at Oregon on Feb. 4 at 8 p.m. (FS1) and play at Oregon State on Feb. 6 at 3 p.m. (P12WA).
WSU will play host to UCLA on Feb. 11 at 8 p.m. (FS1) and play host to USC on Feb. 13 at 5 p.m. (ESPN2 or ESPNU).
In a schedule change previously announced, the Cougars play host to Washington on Feb. 15 at 5 p.m. (P12WA).
All days and times are subject to change due to television updates and COVID-19 protocol.
GU's Suggs named WCC Freshman of the Week for sixth time
SAN MATEO, Calif. — The West Coast Conference named Gonzaga's Jalen Suggs the Men's Basketball Freshman of the Week for the sixth time this season.
He receiveed the honor for the third straight week, and fifth time in the last six weeks. Pepperdine’s Kessler Edwards was named the WCC Player of the Week.
Suggs nearly had a triple-double in Gonzaga’s victory over Pacific, which would have just been the Zags’ second triple-double ever after teammate Joel Ayayi achieved the feat on Jan. 9. Suggs scored nine points Saturday, had a game-high 11 rebounds, and dished out eight assists. His 11 rebounds were a career-high, and his eight assists matched a career-best.
Suggs leads the West Coast Conference in steals per game (2.31). The freshman is also third in the WCC in assists per game (4.92), fifth in field goal percentage (51.9 percent), and 14th in scoring (13.92).
The top frosh honor is the seventh in nine weeks for the Bulldogs as Oumar Ballo received the recognition on Jan. 4.
WSU's Leger-Walker earns fifth Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honor
SAN FRANCISCO — Charlisse Leger-Walker of Washington State was named the Pac-12 Conference Freshman of the Week for the fifth time this season, as announced by the conference office Monday.
The guard from Waikato, New Zealand averaged 23.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.0 assists per game during the Cougars recent to trip to Oregon and Oregon State. Leger-Walker scored 20-plus points in back-to-back contests for the second time this season over the weekend, while she made the game-winning shot in WSU's thrilling 77-75 double-overtime win at Oregon State this past Sunday. The freshman got her week started with a 24-point, eight-rebound performance in a loss at No. 13 Oregon on Friday. Leger-Walker then went on to score 22 points at Oregon State to help the Cougars pick up their first win in Corvallis since the 2012-13 season.
Washington State plays host to No. 6 Stanford on Wednesday (6:30 p.m., P12WA).
WSU announces spring women's soccer schedule
Washington State will play 16 games in the spring women's soccer season after having the fall postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021 Cougars are looking to pick back up where they left off in 2019, finishing the season ranked No. 4 in the country after advancing to the program's first College Cup.
The 2021 spring schedule begins at Seattle U on Feb. 7. WSU will host Eastern Washington (Feb. 12) and Idaho (Feb. 19) before the Cougs head into Pac-12 action. The game against the Eagles marks the first regular season contest between the two teams since 2013 while the Vandals cross the border for the first time in two seasons.

The NCAA Tournament begins April 23 and finishes May 16 with the championship game at the College Cup.
WSU's squad includes defender Bridget Rieken, a sophomore from Lake City High and a starter last year as a freshman.
The Cougars will play their early season games inside of the Indoor Practice Facility on campus due to winter weather conditions with the hope of moving outside to Lower Soccer Field later in the year. The schedule is subject to change with television schedules being selected and changed throughout the year and with possible COVID-19 protocols shifting contest dates.
