Get your picks in for the Bee Super Bowl Challenge

I'm sure all of you have already started going back and forth with friends and family about who is going to win Super Bowl LV on Sunday, Feb. 2.

It's a yearly tradition unlike any other. The Super Bowl (and all the commercials it offers) truly brings people together to debate who is the best and why.

So take a minute after screaming at your dad's friend from Boston who has magically converted from a Patriots fan to a TOMpa Bay fan, and send in your Super Bowl pick.

It's probably already in the back of your head, so pull it out of there, put it in an email, send it my way and you could win a $100.

It's simple, easy and pain free.

So far, 10 people have submitted their picks. Seven of them are picking the favorites, the Chiefs, to take down the Buccaneers. Most people are predicting a pretty high-scoring game, but a few are hoping for a defensive battle.

In terms of Super Bowl MVP, nine of the 10 people who have submitted their picks so far are taking either Patrick Mahomes or Tom Brady. That's really no surprise considering both will be instrumental in determining the winner of the game and a quarterback has won the award 30 times.

However, you would be better off going out on a limb and picking someone other than a QB. Some other options I would consider: Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill, Leonard Fournette, Chris Godwin and Mike Evans.

Once in a blue moon, a defensive player claims the MVP, so Chris Jones and Lavonte David are a few players worth looking at on that side of the ball.

But let's be real, chances are pretty high that Mahomes or Brady will take home the MVP glory if their teams emerge victorious. Last year, I decided to go off the beaten path and take Damien Williams. Williams won't even be on the field for the Chiefs in this year's Super Bowl because he opted not to play this season due to COVID-19 concerns, but in Super Bowl LIV he had 133 total yards and two touchdowns.

Somehow he didn't win the award with those numbers and instead Mahomes got it with these numbers: 286 passing yards, three total touchdowns and two interceptions. Now don't get my wrong, Mahomes is great and he was the main reason the Chiefs mounted a comeback, but Williams earned that award (Yes, I'm still salty about it). That just shows how much the MVP is a QB award.

I will give my pick on the game and prediction for MVP sometime next week, but for now get yours in.

Email in your prediction for the amount of points each team will score, the winner and your choice for MVP to [email protected].

On Super Bowl Sunday, we will put a master list of the picks in the paper so you can follow along while watching the game.

In Saturday's paper, I will take a dive into some of the Super Bowl prop bets.
