From seniors to the LGBTQ community to servers and hospitality workers in need, TDS Fiber is sharing some love across North Idaho.
The innovative fiber internet, TV and phone services company has selected the five nonprofits that will be awarded gold prize marketing packages worth $1,025 each through the Business Journal of North Idaho's Best of 2021 contest.
"I’m really glad that we’re able to support such a diverse group of nonprofits," TDS North Idaho associate field marketing manager Anita Parisot said Tuesday. "I was really happy to see CDAIDE made it; we're a service economy and I know those guys have been struggling.
"We're going to be able to impact a wide swath of people," she said.
And the winners are:
•One More Time, dedicated to enriching the lives of adults with life-limiting issues or disease by helping them to have an experience "One More Time."
•Cancer and Community Charities, known as the 3Cs, an organization of women volunteers committed to raising funds to fight cancer and to assist with worthwhile needs in the local community.
•Silver Angels for the Elderly, which provides awareness and support to residents of eldercare facilities and family members in Kootenai County.
•North Idaho Pride Alliance, an organization of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning people and allies who work together to create a more inclusive North Idaho.
•CDAIDE, which supports service and hospitality workers with resources and funding when needs arise.
North Idaho Pride Alliance outreach coordinator Jessica Mahuron said "this kind of community recognition is a huge step forward."
"We are incredibly grateful and honored to be the recipient of this marketing package," she said. "We thank the community for thinking of the North Idaho Pride Alliance, and TDS."
Diane Zell, founder of Silver Angels, said the good news "made my day."
"We are blessed. To think that others feel that our nonprofit is worthy is just, what can I say, so heartwarming and encouraging,” Zell said. "I pray that we’ll be able to expand our ministry though this."

Christmas shopping is always better with friends. When those friends are festively clad classmates with a common goal of shopping for families in need while keeping to a budget, it makes that shopping experience much merrier. “It’s really nice and I’m super happy that I can bring joy to people who can’t afford as much as they would like,” Lake City High School senior Aurora Johnson said Thursday morning. "It’s a really fun and great activity, and I love how passionate our class is for it.”
