SPIRIT LAKE — As some Lakeland wrestlers approach limitations, coach Rob Edelblute has been able to juggle his lineup to get some JV guys some varsity experience.
Wednesday was just Westen Sobel-Schlewitz’s night.
Sobel-Schlewitz panned Zachary Schultz of Timberlake in 5 minutes, 46 seconds in a bout at 138 pounds, helping the Hawks beat the Tigers 60-27 at Timberlake High.
“It was a good win for him,” Edelblute said. “He wrestled hard and with a lot of heart tonight. We’re excited to see him step up at the varsity level. For some of our guys, it was a huge moment, and we’re excited for them.”
Cooper Johnson (160), Hayden Berger (195), Sam Feusier (285), Matt Williams (98), Lucas Williams (132), Colton Dow (145) and Riley Siegford (160) also had pins for Lakeland.
“We had some young guys in the lineup and a few kids out on limitations (wrestlers are allowed to compete a total of 15 dates), we moved some things around,” Edelblute said. “They’re wrestling tough, and you can’t ask for much more than that this time of year.”
Trevor Cady (220), Ayden Meehan (106), Hunter Gardner (113), Stryker Houston (120) and Ty Gallimore (126) won by pin for Timberlake.
Both teams will compete in the North Idaho Rumble starting on Friday at Coeur d’Alene High.
