VACCINES: Where do we turn?

I am writing this to address the problem of getting a COVID-19 vaccine. Although Panhandle Health is supposed to be the source of information and the distributor of the vaccine, they are doing an abysmal job of educating people as to when the clinics will be for the 65 and older group, when they will begin, where to register, etc.

Basically, you are referred to non-information sources you already know, and then the response is don’t bother us, we’ll let you know.

Our group is to begin vaccinations Feb. 1, but no information is given only two business days before? Will there be a mad rush Feb. 1 to try to sign up only to be told all clinics are closed?

While this is happening, many people of different ages are able to get their vaccines through doctors, etc., but no info is out there regarding which doctors or other sites have the vaccine.

My husband and I are 77 and 78 years old and are already concerned that our group has now been enlarged by the governor to 65 and older, so with the increased numbers, it will be even more difficult to get into a clinic.

At the beginning, older people were considered a priority, but now they just get the runaround. Idaho is near the bottom of those states who have completed vaccinations and is it any wonder. This feels like the same lack of concern that our community has had for wearing masks.

We would appreciate it if The Press would address these very disconcerting issues for people who really want to get a vaccination, so they can contribute to community safety and see their families again.
