COEUR d'ALENE — Post Falls holds a two-point lead after the opening day of the North Idaho Rumble, putting nine wrestlers into today’s semifinal round.

Tyson Barnhart (106 pounds), Connor McCarroll (113), Roddy Romero (120), Avery McSpadden (126), Ryan Graves (132), Lane Reardon (145), John Rudebaugh (152), Ethan Miller (160) and Isaiah Laguna (220) advanced for the Trojans, who lead tournament host Coeur d’Alene 106-104.

Christian Kelly (98 pounds), Mason Keough (138), Demarco Piazza (145), Nolan Randles (152), Sebastian Prangley (160), Gunner Giulio (170), Bear Brunner (182), Jaxson Washington (220) and Jackson Kohal (285) advanced to the semifinals for Coeur d’Alene, which is second with 104 points.

“We had a really good day today,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat said. “We had a few matches that slipped away, but the kids competed hard, which is always good to see this time of year.”

Championship semifinals are scheduled for at 10 a.m., with finals tentatively at 1:30 p.m.

Matt Williams (98), Lucas Williams (132), Riley Siegford (145), Blaise Wright (152), Cooper Johnson (160), Devon Suko (170), John White (182), Hayden Berger (195) and Sam Feusier (285) advanced for Lakeland, which is fourth with 88 points.

Zach Macdonald (98), Blaine Leonard (120), Matthew Whitcomb (182) and Logan Parson (285) advanced to the semifinals for Lake City, which is seventh with 51.5 points.

“All four of them wrestled really well,” Lake City coach Corey Owen said. “Both Zach and Blaine wrestled a lot better tonight. Both Matthew and Logan looked great, but have been constant all year. It was good to see the younger guys wrestle well.”
