Troy’s Fourth of July bash is back this year and its fireworks display is set to be bigger than ever.

Employees with the company providing the firepower for the celebration say that Troy’s show will rank in the top three displays of the state, according to Chera Cole, deputy city clerk.

In addition to enjoying old favorites, revelers this year will experience new patriotic pyrotechnics such as a “waving flag” display.

Along with the fireworks, the celebration — put on by the Troy Chamber of Commerce — will feature a color run, church service, parade, car show and vendor’s market. With the color run kicking off at 8 a.m. and fireworks beginning at dark, the event will last all day Sunday.

The celebration will feature music from Jackie Fox and the Hounds and the Boulder Creek Band. Roughly the same number of vendors have signed up as in years past, with some newcomers replacing old hands.

“We’re really excited about the [vendor] turnout this year,” said Cole.

After calling off the event last summer due to the coronavirus pandemic, organizers received the green light from public health officials to restart the celebration.

Troy has held its Fourth of July festivities for more than 100 years, according to the chamber’s website. The family-friendly celebration generally draws 6,000 people.

Cole said it would be hard to judge how many people would show up to the event due to the lingering effects of the pandemic. Considering Independence Day falls on a weekend, Cole said more people may flock to the state’s northwest corner to mark the occasion.
