A Eureka man died in a traffic crash Friday afternoon in northern Lincoln County.
According to Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Neil Durham, a 50-year-old man was driving a Chevy Silverado north on Yaak Valley-Libby Dam Road East, also known as Forest Development Road 92, at about 2:59 p.m. when it failed to negotiate a sharp, left turn.
The vehicle hit a guard rail, went over it and traveled down a steep, talus slope before striking a boulder and caught fire.
The man was not wearing a seat belt.
It was the 106th fatality on Montana roads in 2021.
